Split pupils into 6 groups and give each group an ideas postcard, a sheet of paper and a pen. As a group the need to write down a name, an adjective, a colour, a verb and any random word they like!
Challenge each pupil to write their own mini saga on their postcard story theme and include each of the words on the sheet (or as many as possible!)
Your pupils can then share their mini sagas within their group to see how different they are. If you have time, share all the stories with the class, so they can see how different children were inspired to use 5 simple words!

Dilemma Ideas
Inspire students with cliff-hanger endings...
Will they make out of danger? Does the portal take them home? What was out there? What was the noise? Who was in the shadows?
Can they find an example of a cliff-hanger in a book they are reading? Or you could show them an example – as readers we love suspense, it’s very exciting!
Ask pupils to think of a question for their story that they can build their work around to create a cliff-hanger.
